About

Courses on this site are of two types:

One-to-one live tutor based courses. You get two lessons per week, based on your payment, this can be a combination of:

  • Two tutor lessons weekly
  • Or; One tutor based lesson and one self study lesson.

It provides full access to structured course materials and tests, along with weekly tutor interaction, and messenger/text communications.

Self-study courses. Your study is mostly, but not completely, tutor-less. You get two self study lessons per week, plus one of those lessons shall be a tutor based lesson, on a day and time of your choice. It provides the same access to course materials, as the above option, but with reduced tutor interaction, and is mostly messenger/text based communications. It is suitable for:

  • Trial lessons at a reduced cost.
  • Maintaining some level of contact with lessons whilst on holiday.
  • If you study elsewhere but need access to more Arabic/GCSE Arabic resources, and pre-planned lessons that you can access at anytime.
  • If you can’t afford the full cost of tutoring but want the materials, and some tutor support, available to you.

Which course?

If you are unsure whether you should be taking a foundation tier or higher tier course you have the option of taking an assessment first before you start. Assessments can be found on the main courses page, or you can take a 1-to-1 assessment with the tutor by filling out the contact form.

How long are the courses?

See individual courses for details. Some courses last less than a month whilst others last for several months. If you wanted to sample the site try one of the short courses first.

How do I register for a course?

Visit the courses page and select a course. Once you have done this you shall be asked to register your details to proceed with your application. Terms of service apply.

Enrolment steps

  • If you experience any issues visit this help centre page again and read the relevant topic to solve the problem, or get in touch.

Enrolment and attendance

Enrolment and attendance on any of our courses, or marking lessons as completed, will not suffice as fulfilment of the course requirements. Genuine interactive participation, honest efforts, and completion of classwork, exercises, quizzes, and homework to a satisfactory standard are a must.

Usernames

Usernames should be the full name of the student, not the parent. Your account should be true, and correct as with any application, or registration. Your password should be kept safe so that no one else can access your account.

Copying

Some course recourses can be downloaded, or copied by students for personal learning use only. Resources may contain ADLS Language watermarks, or logo/s. Copying of other people’s work or your previous test answers are not allowed.

System grading

When you take a quiz on this site you shall automatically graded by the site system based on your answers, and the minimum pass mark.

Past paper grading

If you take a GCSE course you shall at certain stages sit mock tests using past papers. These papers have their own mark grading system using mark schemes. Your tutor is familiar with the use of the mark schemes which shall be employed when marking writing, and reading papers etc.

Classroom grading

Your tutor uses other systems to also mark homework exercises. You shall be informed about these by your tutor during the course of your studies.

What does my payment cover?

Your payment covers several areas, depending on the plan that you sign up for. It includes but is not limited to:

  • Access to course study materials, and account updates.
  • Access to your tutor experience, and knowledge.
  • The cost of tutoring:
    • Monthly overheads, site running costs.
    • Behind the scenes preparation and administration.
    • Tutor time, marking of work, and feedback/creation of reports.

Our rates are in line with fairest fees and are competitively priced. We aim to provide value for money by offering anytime course access. Courses are structured so that you get more than just a one hour slot.

How do I make payments?

You shall receive instructions within your invoice and/or email. Payments can be made via Standing order, Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or manual bank transfer. Contact us if you need further information regarding setting up payment.

Can I make automatic payments?

Yes. You can make automatic stripe payments or monthly standing order payments, these will allow you uninterrupted access to course materials. Automatic payments mean that you never miss a payment date, so you don’t have to worry about access issues at the end of your payment cycle.

Monthly manual bank transfers are also accepted although access may be restricted until your payment has been received.

Payments in advance?

If you wish to make an early payment, within a few days of your invoice being sent out, you can do this. You may still receive an automatically generated payment reminder but you shall also receive a confirmation of your payment. We do not normally take advance payment of more than a month, unless detailed on the website or you have an agreed arrangement for such a payment.

Do I receive an invoice?

Yes, invoices, as well as payment confirmations, are normally sent via email. You may occasionally receive payment communications and confirmations via WhatsApp if we have your contact details.

Do missed lesson payments rollover?

As a general rule; any missed lessons, that have been agreed to be rescheduled, should be taken within the period covering payment. Lessons and/or payments do not rollover to the following month. There may be exceptions to this condition if the fault is a technical issue, etc, at our end.

What if my payment is late?

We often send out payment reminders so as to keep you updated, but you should create monthly or weekly payment alerts for end of month payments. If you find this a little laborious, and you’d rather not miss a payment, you can sign up for standing orders or automatic payments.

If a payment is late you, or your child, may not be able to access the course materials until payment has been received.

Password issues

I cannot access my dashboard because I cannot login!

  • You may have entered the wrong password. If you have entered the wrong password you can reset it and then check your email/junk mail for the reset link. If you cannot locate the reset link contact us to resolve this issue for you, with a temporary password which you will need to change later.
  • Always contact us as soon as you can if you have issues logging in but try the above steps first before contacting us. If you contact us out of business hours you may have to wait until we reopen again, please bear with us.

Logging in and out

If ever there are any glitches in the system log out, refresh the page, and then log back in again. Always login prior to lessons starting so you do not waste time, and so you can resolve any potential issues before hand.

Module access

If ever you cannot access your module, try the first step above, or use your browser history to see the last lesson you were on and access it from there. Let your tutor know a soon as possible if you are experiencing any issues.

Payment panel

If you have already paid but you still see the payment panel on your course overview main page, instead of the instructor panel, try the above steps or inform your tutor prior to your lesson.

Quizzes

Quiz/test attempts are usually limited to two attempts, this is normally the same for assessments and courses.

Revision

At the end of each course module you should normally revise the whole module before taking a quiz.

Other revision

Before taking an assessment you may wish to revise some of your Arabic knowledge via a textbook, or listening material.

My School does not do GCSE Arabic

Your school does not need to teach or have GCSE Arabic on their curriculum. GCSE Arabic is an external language subject. You can can study it outside of school, using an experienced tutor, Arabic school or madrasah, then sit the exam at your school.

When do I register for the exam?

This is done with your school. Speak with your school in the first instance, and also your tutor for more information. Usually the deadline for exam registration is in February of each year, late entry may incur higher fees.

My school does not have an examiner

An external examiner is only required for your Arabic speaking paper. The remaining papers are sent to to your school. You will sit each exam on the day allocated by Pearson-Edexcel and your school. An external examiner can be had via us at ADLS Language or contact Pearson-Edexcel or your school. You can also sit the exam at another school of your choice where the examiner is not local to your school.

My school needs evidence of my Arabic level

We are happy to provide evidence of Arabic study for GCSE Arabic exams as well as other awards you intend to take, such as the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE).

Can I take breaks for holidays?

Yes you can pause your course to take short breaks for holidays etc. When you are ready you can restart from where you left off. Note that access to course materials may be restricted without payment.

Please note that unless some form of Arabic language engagement is maintained, during holidays, you may risk falling behind and forgetting some topics, lessons, and concepts. In the event that lessons are not maintained during holidays, having several weeks, we shall not be responsible for any impact that this may have.

The month of Ramadhan

During the month of Ramadhan we normally continue to have lessons. You may opt to change the time of your lessons if the time for Iftar (breaking of fast) falls around the lesson time. If you prefer to take a break during Ramadhan you can make up lessons when you return, and have two lessons per week. This is counted as a rollover exception for payments made for missed/paused lessons during the month of Ramadhan, and Eid.

Part-time study

So that you do not miss out on lessons you have the option to continue part-time studies by making part payment, equilivant to half your normal lesson fee. This means you will still have access to continue modules, without your regular tutor slots. This allows you to keep up to date and not get left behind. To proceed with this alternative select the tutor-less option, on the payment panel, when attempting payment.

Emergencies

For all other emergencies where you need to stop temporarily or permanently get in touch with us, by email, as soon as possible.

Group classes

You can sign up for group classes at the beginning of the academic year, which runs from August/September. If you apply for a group class later than this you may not be able to enter, but this will depend on your ability as well as the tier/level that you wish to apply for.

How many in a group?

Group classes are usually a maximum of 3-4 students, and a minimum of 2 students.

How much do group classes cost?

Group classes do not normally cost more than £9.50 per student, for a 60 minute class. This will also depend on the intensity/level of the class, the lower the level the less the cost. We do not recommend less than 60 minute group classes of 3 students, but where there are only two students it is possible to have a 45 or 60 minute class.

For specific information relating to your level, and duration get in touch with a member of the ADLS administration.
